Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 16, 2026
This policy applies to the Knowigo website (knowigo.com) and the Knowigo mobile app, which is currently in testing. In short: we collect the minimum needed to run the game, we do not sell your data, and ads are not personalized.
1. Who is responsible
The data controller is Bora Tarhan. For questions, requests and deletion: support@knowigo.com
2. Data we collect
- Guest sign-in (web only): the display name you enter, a color assigned to you and a user ID generated by the system.
- Account: your email address, display name, username, chosen color and whether your email is verified. Your password is stored by Google Firebase Authentication and we cannot see it (for older web accounts only an irreversible hash is kept). If you sign in with Google, we use the name and email Google shares with us.
- Game content: the questions, answers, bluffs, penalties and wheel topics you write; your votes and bet levels; room and game records, your scores and weekly leaderboard position.
- Ad credits (mobile): when credits earned by watching ads were earned and spent, and the transaction ID the ad network assigns.
- Mode access: game modes assigned to your account and their source (including future in-app purchases; payment details are handled by the store and we never see them).
- Technical data: your IP address is held only briefly in memory to limit abuse and is not written to our database; it may also appear in our hosting providers' standard server logs. Device and browser type sent with the connection.
- Stored on your device: your session token, language and sound preferences, and the room or game you were in — in the browser's local storage on the web and in the app's device storage on mobile. We do not use cookies.
We do not collect photos, location, contacts, microphone or biometric data. Avatars are picked from a fixed list of colors; no images are uploaded.
3. Why we use it
- To provide the game: creating your account and signing you in, running rooms, assigning questions, calculating scores and the leaderboard (performance of a contract).
- Security and abuse prevention: rate limiting, reviewing content reported to us, removing content that breaks the rules and restricting accounts when needed (legitimate interest).
- Ads and ad credits (mobile): showing ads and verifying that a rewarded ad was actually watched (legitimate interest).
- Understanding how the website is used through aggregate, non-identifying statistics (legitimate interest).
4. What other players see
Players in the same room see your display name and color. Questions and answers you write are shown to players; depending on the mode, who wrote a question or its answers and who picked which answer may also be shown at the end of a round or the game. Hidden mode never shows these, only counts. Your display name and wins may appear on the weekly leaderboard.
5. Services that process data
We do not sell your data. We use these providers to run the game:
- Google Firebase Authentication: email and Google sign-in (Google LLC).
- Google AdMob: ads in the mobile app (in testing). Ads are requested as non-personalized and your advertising ID is not used to track you across apps; AdMob processes device information and IP address to show ads, cap frequency and prevent fraud.
- Neon: database (Frankfurt, Germany, European Union).
- Render: game server (Frankfurt, Germany, European Union).
- Vercel: website hosting and cookie-free, aggregate usage statistics.
- Apple App Store and Google Play: app distribution and future in-app purchases.
6. International transfers
Our database and game server are in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany). Some providers such as Google and Vercel may process data outside Türkiye, including in the United States. These transfers rely on the safeguards required by law (e.g. the providers' standard contractual clauses).
7. Retention and account deletion
- Account data is kept until you delete your account.
- To delete your account, write to support@knowigo.com from the email address you signed up with, or, for a guest account, include the name you used in the game and when you played. Requests are completed within 30 days at the latest.
- When your account is deleted, your email, display name, username, sign-in account (Firebase), ad credits and mode access are deleted.
- Questions, answers and penalties you wrote in games are part of other players' game history, so they are not deleted; they are anonymized so that nothing links them to you.
- Server logs are kept for our hosting providers' retention periods.
8. Your rights
Under Turkish data protection law (KVKK, Art. 11) and, if you are in Europe, the GDPR, you can request access to, correction or deletion of your data, restrict or object to processing, and receive a copy of your data. Send requests to support@knowigo.com; we respond within 30 days. You may also complain to the Turkish Personal Data Protection Authority or your local data protection authority.
9. Age
Knowigo is for people aged 13 and over. If we learn that someone under 13 has created an account, we delete it.
10. Security
Connections are encrypted (HTTPS). Only the server accesses the database; only authorized accounts can enter the admin panel. No system is completely secure; if a breach occurs we will notify as required by law.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. We will announce significant changes on the website and in the app; the effective date is shown at the top of this page.
